The Cat and the Gravedigger
Follow two iconic characters of this ancient ossuary, the Cat and the Gravedigger, during an audio-guided tour.
Audio guides are available at the ticket office of Rouen Sites et Monuments, located in the courtyard of the ossuary.
Adult tour :
During this immersive audioguided tour, let us tell you the story of the Aître Saint-Maclou through the colorful tale of a character who is emblematic of this ancient cemetery: the Fossoyeur. Stories, legends and anecdotes, he’s inexhaustible!
Join him as he takes you through the courtyard and reveals the history of the Aître and the many lives that have passed through it, from its funerary past to the present day. But watch out for the Cat. The two characters engage in a lively, wry exchange, making this audio experience as rich as it is funny.

Child tour :
In this audio tour specially designed for children, the Cat leads the way – or rather, the tour! Proud of his nine lives, he gently mocks the gravedigger he meets along the way. Dialogue and sound effects enliven this different kind of discovery of the Aître.
With games to punctuate each observation point, children have fun discovering the Aître Saint-Maclou. Guided by the Cat, they search for the many clues hidden in the courtyard’s architecture and macabre decor.
